Miscast Cabaret

A Benefit Concert

What Is Miscast Cabaret?

We actors all have those roles we love, but will never have the chance to perform onstage – whether because we are of a different gender, too old, a different race, or have different physical characteristics. But it doesn't mean we haven't dreamed of what it would be like to get a crack at it – just once! Well, here's your chance to hear us present the dream roles we will never perform in a staged production!

Miscast Cabaret is a one-night event featuring RHS students performing songs from roles they would never be cast in. Changing the roles can alter the dynamic or meaning of a song, which creates a new perspective for the audience. The results are sometimes thought-provoking, other times hilarious. Maybe you’ll see a female Gaston or a male Eliza Hamilton. A Caucasian person singing Breathe from In the Heights or a near-adult singing Naughty from Matilda. Join us for this entertaining mix-up of your favorite Broadway songs.

Our Show

Our Miscast Cabaret is run entirely by students and is presented by the RHS Drama Boosters. All proceeds go to the charity of the students' choice. Watch social media for the date of this year's Miscast Cabaret.

RHS Drama presented its first Miscast Cabaret in September of 2016 and has been a yearly event ever since. For program information and photos from our shows, see the Past Production pages for each school year.
